Sportsmen serving sportsman for over 70 years. Since 1952, we've been family owned and operated, and have built a great staff of extremely knowledgeable employees who can answer any of your outdoor questions or concerns!
Jeff Shaw Jr.
Co-Owner
After graduating from Woodstown High School in 1993, and pursuing a Business Management degree from Rowan University, Jeff began working full time at the shop in 1999. He and his father have co-owned the store for 20 years now. Over the last two decades, Jeff has become one of the best bow technicians in the area. He is an avid whitetail bowhunter with experience all over the country. Jeff also has a passion for waterfowl, turkeys, freshwater fishing, and fluke fishing in the back bays of New Jersey. Married to his high school sweetheart Rachel for over 25 years, he now gets to experience the outdoors with his three kids Daegen, Luke, and Addisyn.
Jeff Shaw Sr.
Co-Owner
Jeff purchased the store from its original owner, John Repp, in 1991. In the last 30 years, he has transformed what was once a small bait shop into the largest Archery and Tackle shop in South Jersey. Jeff has hunted big game all over the world, including red stag and tahr in New Zealand. He greatly enjoys deer hunting with his son Jeff Jr, and spending time with his grandkids Daegen, Luke, and Addisyn. Jeff Sr. currently resides in Missouri and is enjoying retirement.
Steve Taniguchi
Full-time employee
Steve began working at the shop full time in 2000, after his impressive collegiate soccer career. Steve plays a major role in the day-to-day operations at the shop. He is our main Reel repair Tech, and one of our Bow techs. His knowledge on freshwater and saltwater fishing is endless. For 20 years, Steve found much success competing in bass tournaments all over the country. He now enjoys offshore fishing for fluke, stripers, blackfish, and much more!
Brandon Schmale
Full-time Employee
Brandon first started his career by working at the Hodge Podge in Avalon, NJ for 10 years until they closed down. He has been at Blackwater Sports Center as a full time employee since 2022. He plays a big part in our everyday operations here at the store. Brandon has an expert knowledge of fresh and saltwater fishing, and is an avid surf and tog fisherman. He is also a huge Eagles fan.
Daegen Shaw
Part-time Employee
Daegen has been working at Blackwater Sports Center since 2019 and is 3rd generation here working at the store. Practically raised at Blackwater, it's no surprise that he has become an employee. He is currently in college at Rowan University attaining a business degree. When he's not at the store he's usually out hunting, fishing or watching Philly sports.
Luke Shaw
Part-time Employee
Luke is also 3rd generation and has been working part-time for 2-3 years, and looks forward to maybe one day taking over the whole store. Since the age of 10 he has been an avid turkey hunter, duck hunter, and especially a big deer hunter. Luke has a very wide-range knowledge of white-tail deer hunting. He enjoys freshwater fishing occasionally as well.
Rachel Shaw
Co-owner
Rachel has been married to Jeff since 2000. She is a social worker in the school setting. Rachel grew up fishing lakes with her family and enjoyed learning more about fishing and eventually hunting while she dated Jeff, Jr. Although she is not at the shop full-time, you may see her helping out at times.
